Darts Winter Season 2014-2015

The Clifford Arms Darts Team are looking for extra players. They will be having a “practice session” (or even a “practice” session) on Wednesday evening 8th October from 7:30pm. If you are interested in joining the team, please come and join in.

The Team would like to point out that they operate an equal opportunities selection process (if you enjoy a giggle and a drink you’re probably in … if you can hit the dartboard that’s a bonus).darts

Clifford Duck Update

Clifford Duck at Tough Mudder Dublin

Well it seems that Clifford Duck is enjoying his adventures.  He has a new feather in his cap, becoming a Tough Mudder Legionnaire ( https://toughmudder.co.uk/) after completing three laps in Dublin on Sunday 5th October 2014.

Clifford Duck

Clifford Duck was happy living on his shelf by the TV in the bar.  When the new 50″ TV was put in, he moved to a windowsill.  We are not sure if the view from the window caused him to develop a wanderlust, or, more worryingly, if someone abducked him.  He has been in contact with us via Facebook, but his adventures to date have done little to ease our concerns about him.

On his first day away we could tell from his facebook posts that he was taking good care of himself.  He’d been on a trip to Wales, been shopping for food and had a bath before bed.  He even got up early enough the next day to make sure he got his early morning swim.

Since then, it seems he might have got into bad company – namely a “Tough Mudder” (www.toughmudder.co.uk).  He has obtained a dodgy passport and taken to drinking, driving fast cars and consorting with the ladies.  He has even been arrested by armed police – though it would appear that he was let off with a caution.

VAT Equality Day

We are supporting VAT Club Jacques Borel’s Tax Equality Day again this year on Wednesday 24 September. It follows on from the success of the first Tax Parity Day that took place in 15,000 pubs and restaurants across the UK in September 2013. We will support the campaign to reduce the level of VAT in the hospitality sector by lowering prices on food and drink by 7.5 per cent. Prices will be reduced for one day only, in order to show the benefits of a VAT cut to five per cent. At present all food and drink in pubs is subject to 20 per cent VAT, compared to supermarkets which benefit from a zero VAT rate.

Visit www.vatclubjaquesborel.co.uk for more information and to download a letter to send to your MP urging them to support this campaign.welovevat-yeahright
